Review: the new Phineas and Ferb movie is amazing
Years after the show’s ending, Phineas and Ferb is still the same

Every time I would scroll on Snapchat, I would always see the ad for Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. So, I finally decided to watch it and it was amazing. I used to watch the show when I was little until they cut it off. Since then, I thought that it would stay cancelled like the other old shows, never making a return. However, that changed when this movie came out.
Candace, the main character, Phineas and Ferb, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, Perry the Platypus and all their friends all go to planet Feebla-Oot to save Candace. Candace is the big sister of Phineas and Ferb and she always wants to get them in trouble. Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz is usually the antagonist of the show and Perry, who works for the O.W.C.A. or well known as “The Agency,” stops him from taking over the city or world. Doofenshmirtz also has a daughter named Vanessa, around Candance’s age as well. Their friends Baljeet, Isabella and Buford are always with Phineas and Ferb especially for their inventions and cool creations.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace against the Universe starts by Phineas and Ferb making a weird bounce house. Candace finds out and she tries to tell her mom and leads her to turn around, but she sees nothing as always.
Over at Dr. Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, Dr. Doofenshmirtz tries to destroy the city with a vacuum and Perry stops him.
Candace is upset because she can never bust her brothers. She suddenly gets abducted with Vanessa on planet Feebla-Oot, where antagonist Super Super Big Doctor brainwashes Candace into thinking she is the “chosen one” to mind control planet Earth.
Phineas, Ferb, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, Perry and their friends all go to Feebla-Oot to save her, which leads to them sneaking on the ship and Super Super Big Doctor returning to Earth, mind controlling everyone but them. Candace eventually stops her and realizes that her brothers mean more to her than just busting and getting in trouble.
There were lots of things in this movie that brought back memories. The creators left off right where they ended. They had the same story lines from the show which consisted of: Candace busting her brothers, Perry stopping Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Phineas and Ferb’s never ending summer, etc.
Some things had my eyebrows raising in how well up to date the movie was. During the movie, Candace goes up to an “Alexa-like” voice operated box in the ship. Another thing during one of the songs was when an alien did a popular dance called “the floss” or “floss” which made me enjoy it even more.
Throughout the movie, there were many songs that were a nice touch. The two out of many I thought stuck to me were “Adulting” and “Girls Day Out.” These songs are just so catchy and funny. “Adulting” talks about Dr. Doofenshmirtz being the adult of any situation and “Girls Day Out” is about Candace and Super Super Big Doctor having a girls day out and doing so many fun things together.
I personally like when movies or shows break the fourth wall and this movie did just that. There were a few times they broke the fourth wall, my personal favorite was when Phineas, Ferb, Dr. Doofenshmirtz and their friends were on their way to save Candace. Suspenseful music was playing to compliment the scene’s atmosphere.
However, every time they turned their heads to the building, the music would play and every time they turned their heads away from the building the music would stop. What I love about this is that we heard the same exact thing they were hearing, breaking the fourth wall. Things like that is what kept grabbing the audience’s attention instead of boring them.
At the end, Perry is in front of everyone when his watch goes off and his boss tells him he did great work. The movie ends with everyone staring at him in disbelief and Perry looking at the camera.
Overall, I’d rate it a 9/10. It’s a great family night movie to watch with everyone. If there wasn’t a cliffhanger at the end, it would be a definite 10/10. The animation is amazing and the characters never changed or got old. It is very well put-together and has many comedic scenes that just make you feel like a kid again. Not only that, but the movie represents the good times, not only in the summer, but everyday with everyone.
