Coca-Cola recently released its fourth and last Coca-Cola Creations flavor in 2022, Dreamworld.

Coca-Cola launched Coca-Cola Creations in February, as a platform for a series of limited-edition flavors featuring “unique innovations and unexpected collaborations.” They said that Coke Dreamworld “explores the realms of the surreal, the imaginary, and the otherworldly.”

Dreamworld has possibly the coolest concept— essentially the flavor of a dream. And it definitely has the coolest label. It’s teal with a surrealist design, an upside-down cloud and the classic Coca-Cola cursive logo. The color of the liquid is the same as the original Coke, but Dreamworld definitely has a unique smell. Immediately after opening the bottle, it had an overwhelming fruit aroma.

After tasting Dreamworld, I can say that this will be exploring only sinks and garbage disposals. There’s nothing refreshing or fun about Dreamworld. To me, it was two opposing flavors. The crispness of Coke is dulled by the sour, citrus, leaving an awful taste in your mouth. This is nasty enough that it turned me off any more Coke Creations products.

This newly launched soda tastes like someone dropped a bag of 10-year-old tropical fruit into the original Coca-Cola batch. The overwhelming smell is not pleasant either. If you try drinking it without smelling it, it creates an even more vile aftertaste. I recoiled from the amount of sweetness in the drink and as a teenager with a major sweet tooth, that speaks volumes.

I also wish they would come out and publicly address what these flavors are supposed to be. The majority of my family is allergic to some citrus fruits and probably many Coca-Cola fans are too. It would be useful to list the ingredients to eliminate risk.

Would I repurchase it? Absolutely not. It’s a limited-edition drink and the futuristic teal labels will tempt some shoppers to give it a try, but in my opinion, the taste won’t put anyone into a dreamy haven. I still love the fact that Coca-Cola is thinking outside of the box with its limited-edition flavors this year. So far, none of them have been a burst of flavor, but I’d rather have a variety of flavors to taste than stick solely to the classics, even if they taste horrible.
