How crazy can “Crazy” make you?
LE SSERAFIM is a 5-member K-pop girl group that is taking the world by storm one album at a time. Consisting of members Miyawaki Sakura, Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha and Eunchae, their rise to fame was seen with the release of their EP “ANTIFRAGILE” in 2022. Since then, they continue to prove themselves capable of suiting any musical genre and concept. This globally rising sensation is back with their highly awaited comeback, released on August 30, 2024, “Crazy”. The Extended Play covers the concepts the girl group is most known for such as rap, EDM and self love. The group also proves their duality by introducing a newfound ballad concept featured on the last track. Their significant improvement has moved many, causing an influx of new supporters. Loved and anticipated by many fans over the world, the impact of this EP is undeniably about to be influential.
“Crazy” is one of my personal favorite comebacks from this whole year. From effortless, fast flowing rapping to tense and harmonious vocalistic melodies, LE SSERAFIM refuses to disappoint. Take one listen to the album and you will certainly find yourself jamming to all the songs throughout the week— getting ready for school, mopping the floor, brushing your teeth and even cleaning the air vents. There’s no doubt that this EP will secure its crown on charts due to its catchiness and rejuvenating aspects.
The overall genre of the album revolves around EDM, house, rock, hip hop and rap. The concept is very disco-y and each track is unique in its own way. The introductory track introduces listeners to the idea of “craziness” prevailing throughout the album and it provides a brief overview on the personalities of each member, which I really liked since it added a personal touch. The entire song shares the message of self love and doing whatever your heart desires, which was something really refreshing to hear.
My personal favorite track on the album is the title, “Crazy”, as it’s a really careless and nonchalant song. Its synthetic-pop vibes suit the members so well and the whole Monster High concept is really alluring. The empty chorus was done so well, I loved the repetitive lyrics being sung amidst it. The members’ vocals contrast super nicely and even though the song is short, it’s impossible to get out of your head.
A close favorite is the last track which is the ballad, “crazier”. It brings the romantic, soft concept into the album and ends the EP in the greatest way possible. Its soft blues make you feel as though you’re striding through a sea of rhythmic symphonies. The song is vocal centered and suits the members’ vocal colors so very well! The slight melancholic tone clashing with the romantic balladic feel culminate the ultimate end to a rollercoaster of energetic genres.
Finally, “Crazy” is a must-listen album if you love the messages of self love and women empowerment. Its audience is wide-ranging due to its consistency flowing from one genre to another. If you like EDM, rap, hip-hop, synth-pop or disco, you are bound to love this Extended Play. I’m so proud of the group for improving and coming back with a banger after a banger— and there is no doubt that they have a bright future ahead of them.
