I’ve lived in Hong Kong until I was seven years old and grew up eating Chinese food. Ever since my family and I moved to Florida, we’ve been on a hunt for the most authentic Chinese food here. And let me tell you, Yummy house is the one.

With multiple locations located throughout the state, Yummy House has quickly become everyone’s favorite Chinese restaurant. Recently, their N. Dale Mabry location received tier gold of the “Best Asian Restaurant” award in Tampa’s 2021 Best of the Bay.

I decided to go and get some Dim-Sum on a Sunday morning. As you walk in the double glass doors, you immediately get a very warm feeling, like you’re at home. It was a little crowded and loud though because their Dim-Sum is only available from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. every day. My dad and I decided to order to-go because we were in a rush. The prep time was shorter than I expected with it only being 15-20 minutes.

Looking at their menu, they offer a variety of choices that are suitable for everyone. There are very clear pictures that show their portion sizes and what these food have in them (just in case you are unfamiliar with Dim-Sum.) Their prices were a little high though.

The ladies at the register were very nice and helpful, taking our order with care. As I was waiting, there were even little Dim-Sum carts going around, which gave me a very friendly and familiar feeling.

The environment was very clean as well. Its exterior was a mural of koi fishes, which made the building stand out next to the empty and old Rooms-To-Go. The inside of the restaurant was very modern-like, with its wooden tables and creative wall art. Everyone seemed to be having a blast there, either enjoying their food or engaging in a fun conversation.

I would rate the food a 7/10 overall. It was very flavorful to me, but my dad said it was a little light to his liking. I would always recommend getting the Shu Mai (Steamed Pork & Shrimp Dumplings), the Hong Kong Style Egg Tarts and the Steamed BBQ pork Buns.

I’ve personally been a big fan of Shu Mai ever since I was a kid. It’s just very easy to pop into your mouth if you are in a hurry and tastes even better dipped in a little soy sauce. Their egg tarts were just the perfect amount of sweetness. Not to mention, the crust tasted amazing too. And we can’t forget a classic Dim-Sum dish, Steamed BBQ pork Buns. Having just two or three of these will definitely fill you up and keep you energized for the next couple of hours.

I always enjoy my experience at Yummy House and would recommend anyone to go if they have never tried authentic Chinese Food. Besides Dim-Sum, they also have a lunch and dinner menu, which you can check out on their website (link below). Yummy House is the perfect place for a quick brunch or nice dinner and definitely deserved getting the “Best Asian Restaurant” award in Tampa.
