After an exciting morning of pep and school spirit, IB students packed onto buses and rushed off to the most anticipated field trip of the year- SPIFFS. The International Folk Fair integrates a hands-on approach in teaching students about the culture and food of various countries as well as music which was this year’s theme.
The Knights took the trip to another level, with a soccer match on the field in front of a Native American tipi, a hula hoop contest, and a concert on the African drums.
“I liked experiencing different cultures and customs, and the food and the music,” said Gina Carleton (’14) while roaming Vinoy Park to get her “passport” stamped.
Olivia Moumne (’14) won 2nd place in the contest with her poem about music around the world, with Romina Esmkhani (’14) accepting her certificate from Bill Parsons, the president of SPIFFS.
