Reccurring Police Shootings in the U.S

New York police are searching for two men who shot and injured two Bronx police officers late Monday night.

When a call came in about the armed robbery, five off duty officers were heading home. Instead, they went to look for the suspects.

They identified two suspects who matched a police description. When the suspects knew they were found, they began to shoot at the two police officers, 30 year old Andrew Dossi, and 38 year old Aliro Pellerano. The criminals managed to flee the fire in a stolen black Camaro. The car was eventually found, early Tuesday morning.

The event has attracted great attention due to anti-police protests and the recent Eric
Garner decision, in which the New York police officer was not charged for the man’s death.

A $20,000 reward is given to whoever finds a bearded man who was spotted at a Chinese restaurant moments before the shooting began.

Another police shooting happened on the streets of Brooklyn, the Saturday before Christmas. New York police officers, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were shot and killed by a man named Ismaaiyl Brinkley. Ramos and Liu were sitting in their patrol car when Brinkley came up to the officers and shot them multiple times in the head and upper body. It was also suspected that he shot his girlfriend before arriving in Brooklyn.

Before the incident, Brinkley was posting hate and anti-police messages on social media. Brinkley was upset about the Eric Garner and Michael Brown cases that involved police violence. When Brinkley ran away from the crime scene, he committed suicide on a platform near a subway station.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has tried to praise the officers’ work but these shootings have caused the police officers to doubt their government protection. Many see blood on de Blasio’s hands due to this tragedy.

On December 21st, in the Tarpon Springs area, a man shot and killed Pinellas police Officer Charles Kondek.

The male suspect, Marco Antonio Parilla, shot at Kondek when the officer arrived to investigate a noise complaint. Upon arrival, Parilla shot Kondek right above his bulletproof vest and tried to escape before he got caught and arrested. In the process, Parilla ran over the officer in his car. Kondek was killed instantly from the gunfire. Parilla was sentenced to life in prison without parole. However, the Pinellas prosecutor plans to seek the death penalty.

This incident occurred 24 hours after the police shooting in Brooklyn.

These three instances of violence are forming doubts about security in the minds of Americans across the country.
