Enter Cube Contest to Find Career Path, Win $50
November 10, 2015
Students have the ability to begin planning for their lives after high school this week, as the Cube offers yet another college and career readiness tool.
By going online and completing a short quiz, students can browse a variety of majors and career paths that best suit their personality. They can also enter for a chance to win a 50 dollar Visa Gift Card. But that is not really the point.
“The 50 dollars is just a gimmick to get people interested in helping themselves,” said Mary McNeel, Cube volunteer. “The real purpose of the contest is to help people- students- understand that their personality makes a difference in what kind of job they choose.”
Originally a business major but now an educator, McNeel understands the importance of choosing professions wisely. It was only after a “miserable” three years working in finance that she eventually returned to college and found her passion in elementary school teaching.
“If I had done this test first, maybe I wouldn’t have made that mistake,” McNeel said.
Click here to take the quiz or follow the steps below (as found on form provided by the Cube):
- Type mynextmove into your browser window.
- Click “start” on the box: “Tell us what you like to do.”
- Complete the O-net Interest Profiler by answering the questions.
- After your test is scored, determine the three interest areas in which you scored the most points.
Turn in the completed form to the Cube by Nov. 18 to be eligible for the 50 dollar gift card.
The results of the quiz will allow students to come prepared to next Thursday’s Career Fair.
