Pay a Salute to Our Military

On the afternoon of Nov. 14, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., all military personnel and families will be able to pay tribute to our military, see displays and demonstrations from all branches of the military and a patriotic performance by the band.

The event will take place on the Robinson faculty parking lot for free, where parents and students will be able to see the Army’s battle Humvees, the Coast Guard’s boats, and the the Air Force’s K-9 unit to name a few. The band will then play three pieces, in between each of which a veteran will be an honored with an award.

“Students have been practicing their music for about three or four weeks to get ready for it. We’re in the middle of marching band as well, so we’ve been doing marching band and this concert at the same time,” said band teacher Christopher Revett. “It’s been difficult for the students to learn those things, but they should be ready by Saturday to give a good performance.”

Those students not involved in band can participate by bringing unwrapped new toy for Toys for Tots, speaking to service members and recruiters and, of course, honoring veterans.

“It’s just a great way to pay tribute to our community because we are a very military-heavy community down in South Tampa,” said Revett.

So students should come out and support our fellow military people and those involved in it.
