We bring you some of the biggest headlines from this week’s  noteworthy news, both in the community and around the country.

1. St. Petersburg’s Pier, has kept its signature the inverted five foot pyramid since 1973. But recently it has been reported that the final beams of the inverted pyramid are gone, marking the beginning of a new Pier. Replacing the Pier will be Pier Park, a $46 million dollar project that won’t begin until 2017.
2.  SeaWorld no longer wants to continue their signature orca show. Due to an increase in backlash with help of the documentary, Blackfish, CEO Joel Manby has decided to reverse their years of keeping orcas for simple entertainment by cancelling the orca show. Many have argued that there is still a lot more SeaWorld has to do as they’ve contributed to continuing the captivity of orca whales.
3. Tuesday night’s GOP debate was the fourth of the 2016 election season. The debate featured a slightly new line-up of candidates, with both Chris Christie and Mike Huckabee having been demoted to the “JV” debate. Many viewers were left, once again, with a disappointed view of the performances. On Saturday, CBS will host the second Democratic debate.
