Robinson’s Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) has partnered with Plant City-based Wish Farms to raise funds through selling strawberries. Robinson will receive a percentage of the profit, which will be put towards funding other programs at the school.
“Wish Farms is a local producer of fresh fruit, strawberries specifically, and they offer partnerships with nonprofit schools,” Alissa Ackley, the Robinson PTSA president, said. “We had done [a partnership] a couple of years ago, and they reached out to say they were doing it again this year because they expected a good harvest. It’s a great partnership, and they make it so easy for us.”
The fundraiser began on Jan. 1 and will run until Jan. 31. Each flat of strawberries is $22.
“The last time we partnered with them…it went very well,” Ackley said. “Customers were extremely satisfied with the freshness of the fruit. We pick up the product, and we drive it back to Robinson… and we distribute it within 24 hours of us picking it up. So the fruit is extremely fresh, and everyone who participated in it loved the product. We wanted to take the opportunity to [fundraise] again.”
Strawberry flats will be available for pickup in mid-February and will be delivered to the school by the PTSA. An exact date for delivery has yet to be determined.
