Wednesday night will feature the first World Series Game 7 since 2011, when the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers. The Kansas City Royals, with their backs against the wall, forced a Game 7 with a 10-0 victory over the Giants on Tuesday night.

Yordano Ventura got the start for the Royals, throwing seven shutout innings while allowing just three hits.

Ventura received plenty of run support on the night as the Kansas City offense used a seven-run second inning to take a commanding lead. Mike Moustakas had hits in two of his four at-bats, including a solo home run in the seventh inning. Lorenzo Cain also collected two hits, driving in three runs and scoring two.

San Francisco’s Jake Peavy lasted just one and one-thirds innings, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk.

The two teams will meet for this historic Game 7 on Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Veteran right-hander Tim Hudson will get the start for the Giants against Kansas City’s Jeremy Guthrie. First pitch is set for 8:07 on FOX.
