JV Football Pulls Off 14-6 Win Over Plant

To find the last Robinson JV football victory over Plant, the search leads all the way back to Bill Clinton’s presidency. Prior to Thursday night, anyways.

For the first time since the mid-90s, the Knights defeated the Panthers.

“We’ve put a big emphasis on the JV program the last couple of years,” said varsity head coach Shawn Taylor. “With players that are going to move up next year or the year after, it helps mentally that ‘Hey, we’ve played these guys, we’ve beaten them before and we can beat them on Friday nights.”

Plant, the largest school in class 7A, dressed nearly 70 players for Thursday night’s game while the Knights only dressed 31. For a constant underdog like Robinson, Thursday night proved that when it comes to the game itself, the only numbers that matter appear on the scoreboard.

“Now Plant has something to work for,” said wide receiver Hunter Supple (’18), who caught a touchdown in the win. “[Now] they know that they can’t just walk all over us.”
