Baseball: Knights Dominate Spoto, 11-0

Robinson baseball took a dominant win over Spoto tonight, beating the Spartans 11-0 in five innings. With the win, the Knights improve their record to 7-2 and 6-1 in district play.

The Knights started off the first inning with two runs from Matthew Steckel (’16) and Jake Granese (’18) off a hit from Kris Terry and picked up five more runs in the second inning from Joey Scionti (’17), Mitchell Tozian (’16), Mathew Chowning (’17), Killian McCray (’17) and Aaron Scott (’17).

The Spartans held the Knights scoreless in the top of the third inning, but Robinson increased their lead to 8-0 in the top of the fourth off another run from McCray. Evan Watts (’18) and Austin Glasgow (’18) added on two more runs in the top of the fifth to seal the Knights’ victory.

Pitchers Scott Rothschild (’17) and Kris Terry (’17) helped keep the Spartans scoreless, with Rothschild pitching the first three innings and Terry the final two.

The Knights play Middleton (1-7) next Tuesday, March 8 at home. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Lou Garcia Field (6311 S. Lois Ave, 33616).
