Weekly recap: 4/16-4/20

Flag Football:
The Knights faced their second loss of the season, falling 18-12 in double overtime to Alonso on Monday, April 16.

The Knights face Chamberlain in the district semifinals on Wednesday, April 25, at Robinson High School (6311 S. Lois Ave., 33616).
Baseball:
The Knights (12-8) began the week with a hard loss to Steinbrenner (11-10) on Tuesday, April 17, but finished strong by shutting out Chamberlain (1-20) on Thursday, April 19.
Robinson was able to bring in three runs on only four hits, but lost 7-3 to the Warriors.
Chase Volpi (’18) and Paul Jennewein (’20) collectively scored the three runs.
But quickly making up for the loss, the Knights shutout the Chiefs 5-0. A three-run inning in the bottom of the fifth allowed the Knights to clinch the win.
They will face Bloomingdale (14-7) on Tuesday, April 24, at Robinson High School (6311 S. Lois Ave., 33616).
Softball:
The Lady Knights (20-6) took a 4-3 loss to Steinbrenner (15-6) on Tuesday, April 17. They then followed that up with a 1-0 win over Chamberlain (18-7) the following Thursday.
“Last week we played [Steinbrenner and Chamberlain]… which was a great opportunity to get ready for districts,” Savannah Shackowsky (‘19) said.
Next week, the Lady Knights go up against Middleton (3-13) on Tuesday, April 24 in the first round of the FHSAA 6A district 8 tournament.
Tennis:
The boys’ team made it to semi-finals in the majority of their matches at the district competitions at Hillsborough Community College on Monday, April 16 and Tuesday, April 17 and made it to the final singles matches.
The girls’ team won all of their matches at the district competitions at Hillsborough Community College on Monday, April 16 and Tuesday, April 17 and went on to defeat Academy of the Holy Names and Tampa Catholic in the district finals.
Track and Field:
Select members of Robinson’s track team will be competing in the regional meet on Thursday, April 26.
Track regionals will be held at Charlotte High School (250 Cooper St., 33950).
