Knights Crush Panthers in Historic Win

The Robinson swim team beat Plant Highschool for the first time in over fifteen years.

On Thursday, Sept. 7, the Robinson swim team competed against Plant High School and Lennard High School at Bobby Hicks pool. Both the boys’ team and the girls team won against Lennard in a landslide, only the boys were able to beat Plant by a score of 107-76.

“We did pretty well,” swimmer Harrison Chang (’26) said. “For our events and what we were put in, I think we got a good number of points and made the most of it.”

Sadie Scheu is a junior at Robinson and a Staff Writer of the Knight Writers. This is her first year on staff. Scheu was initially drawn to newspaper because of her love of writing and spent her sophomore year in Journalism I.  "Newspaper just seemed like a good place to practice writing, and I'm excited to get some articles published. I'm also thinking about going into writing or the humanities for college so I'm definitely going to stay in newspaper next year as well," Scheu said. Scheu is originally from France and moved to D.C. when she was two, living there for a total of two years before moving to Florida. Besides having a brief stint of moving back to France for a year for her mother's sabbatical, Scheu has stayed in Florida since and takes part in Robinson's IB program. "Living in France was really cool, we lived in the French Alps so we did a lot of skiing and winter sports and hiking. We had a fun time there, but we were there during COVID so that was interesting," Scheu said. Although Scheu doesn't think she'll be moving back anytime soon, living abroad has inspired a love of travel and an interest in culture. "I definitely would love to live in another country, and at least go out of state for college," Scheu said. Scheu also takes both French and Spanish which is unusual for the IB program. Doing so allows her to keep up with her fluency in French and learn Spanish simultaneously. Along with learning languages, Scheu also participates in soccer, rock climbing, reading and gardening in her free time. "It's a hard question to answer, but I would say my favorite book is "Everything Everything" by Nicola Yoon," Scheu said. Scheu plans to work hard as a newspaper staff member and continue expanding upon her writing style. "I love creative writing, and you'll most likely be seeing more arts, entertainment and opinion pieces from me in the future," Scheu said.
