On Oct. 18 Robinson participated in the 4A District 10 with both the semifinals and finals that weekend. After a season of mixed wins and losses, the team was able to cement themselves as total District Champs.
“There [have been] some teams that we’ve played who were like really good. We had a tournament at Academy and there was like the best teams in Tampa [there],” Varsity Volleyball Player Enya Cooke (’27) said.
By the end of the game on Oct. 18 Robinson went against King High School Lions. With the skills of the Varsity Team, who has had a 2.0 Team Scoring Average as of October 23, as well as the counsel of Coach Clay, the Knights completely dominated during the semifinal game.
“We got 3-0. [Coach Clay] has been great, she’s really been keeping the team together,” Cooke said.
Then on Oct. 19, Varsity Volleyball played against Jefferson High School for their finals. Although Jefferson fought profusely, scoring points in the 10’s during all 3 sections, Robinson scored 25 each time. The Knights had again scored 3-0, winning the 4A District 10 in the process.
“[Districts] was a really fun experience. We had not won Districts in the last five years,” Varsity Volleyball player Emmery Capra (27′) said. “It was a really exciting time for us, everyone was so happy. If you were there, you’d see everyone celebrating. It wasn’t like one person did everything, like we all kind of carried each other, and that led us to winning.”
After a successful Senior night on Oct. 23, where Robinson won 3-0 against Tarpon Springs, the season seems to be falling more and more into Robinson’s favor. The team now has their sights set on States.
“It’s going to be definitely more challenging than Districts, but I don’t think it’s going to be more difficult than our regular season,” Cooke said. “I think our biggest goal is winning Regionals.”
