Consisting of a group with all-rounders, Stray Kids has been dominating the world within the past year or two, releasing song after song that they have made themselves. Catching eyes from every part of the world, Stray Kids continues to experiment by changing their sounds, while also sticking to music that sounds like them.
With their new album, “Giant,” Stray Kids provides a total of 10 songs to the album, with a mix of new songs and already released ones. The list of new tracks include: “Giant,” “Saiyan,” “愛をくれたのに、なぜ” (Aiwokuretanoninaze) and “Christmas Love.”
While the tracks “Night,” “Falling Up” and “Why?” are included in the album they have been previously released. “Night” and “Falling Up” were songs that were released a few weeks ago for the anime, “Tower of God” season 2, as the opening and ending of each episode. I was surprised to see that the track, “Why?” was included in the album due to it being put out seven months ago. I also just found out that it was used for the theme of a drama called, “Re: Revenge.”
The songs “Chk Chk Boom JP ver.,” “Night Eng ver.” and “Falling Up Eng ver.” are different versions of songs that have already been put out.
In terms of how I personally feel about the album, I have mixed reviews. It pretty much stems from having a good portion of songs that fans have already heard. I do wish we recieved a list of tracks full of fresh, new songs. Besides this, I’m happy with how everything else turned out.
From the songs I hadn’t previously listened to, I really was happy with how they turned out. The first track, “Giant” is just a good song overall, I would describe it as the perfect opening for an anime. Despite not originally feeling the best about the song, it definitely grew on me quickly. One of my favorites on this album is “Saiyen”, it sounds like the song that would go in the end credits of a movie, it’s very memorable. “愛をくれたのに、なぜ” (Aiwokuretanoninaze), can roughly translate to, “You Gave Me Your Love, But Why.” This track is very emotional, but I do really like it and will personally use it while I study or do homework. Finally, we have “Christma Love” which is another one of my favorites. I’m very glad that Stray Kids decided to make another Christmas song for fans to listen to during the holiday.
For those who haven’t heard the other songs that have been released, they are songs that I would never skip. I really enjoy listening to “Night” whenever it plays on my playlist, it’s very upbeat and radiates tons of energy. I absolutely love “Falling Up” and would recommened it to most people. I practically ascend every time I hear Han’s high note, it’s truly amazing. Even though I don’t listen to “Why” that often, I do like it and am happy when I get the chance to listen to it.
This group truly knows what they want to do with an album. Despite all the songs choices being somewhat random, they really do fit well together. I haven’t really heard a song from Stray Kids that I haven’t enjoyed or eventually liked yet, and that’s really a talent. I can’t wait for their next release (Planned to release Dec. 13) to see what else to add to my playlist. They have been together for around six years and will definitely be around for more years to come.
