Flu shots to be given in the nurse’s office today
September 21, 2016
Today, Sept. 21, students who returned a form signed by their parents will be able to get a flu shot in the nurse’s office from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The mist will not be offered this year after CDC released that it was not effective as the flu injections in preventing the flu.
“Getting a flu shot does not mean that you will not get the flu, but decreases your chances of getting the flu and you will miss less days of school,” Christine Chapman, the school nurse, said.
Chapman also encourages students to sign up for Healthy Students, which allows students to get over the counter medicines from the nurse’s office in school with parental permission. Interested students can sign up for Healthy Student anytime throughout the year by getting a form from the nurse’s office or Student Affairs and returning it to Chapman.
