The Knights did not beat Plant this year.

After some lightning and rain postponed the original Friday game, Robinson and Plant High School returned to Dad’s Stadium Saturday morning at 1o a.m. to have a rivalry game without weather complications.

Robinson Knights get their moment to shine when they score the first touchdown of the game, putting 7-0 on the board with a Knights lead. A temporary joy until Plant matched up seven points plus a safety, now 9-7 Panthers leading. The Knights’ have had the advantage this season with their defensive players, but so has Plant. By the end of the first quarter, the Panthers are leading 23-7.

Now in the second quarter, Plant’s offensive line continues to throw off Robinson. At 7:26 left in the quarter, Plant scores a touchdown, and then another at 6:02. Wet turf causes some slipping for both sides. Eventually, WR Jeremiah Fernandez (’23) scores Robinson’s second touchdown of the game. Yet the Knights still struggle to keep up with the Panthers. The first half of the game ends in a tackle, 55-14 on the scoreboard and Panthers still in the lead.

One touchdown and extra point later and the Panthers are up at 62 points. Knights do the same and gain another seven to their 14. The third quarter ends 62-21. The Knights still continue to put up a good fight going into the fourth quarter, scoring one more touchdown and an extra point. However, Plant still gets the last laugh, scoring another six points. The Plant vs. Robinson game ends 68-29 and the Knights leave the enemy territory with a loss. Their season record is now 2-2.

Their next game will be against Brandon High School for the Homecoming game, back at Jack Peters Field after two games away.
