The Robinson varsity swim team swam against Jesuit and Academy, facing a major lost on Thursday, Oct. 11. Although Robinson lost at 146 to 28, the team held high spirits throughout the entirety of the meet at Academy.
“Wednesday’s meet against Academy and Jesuit was a very challenging meet. It was senior night, and they graduated seventeen seniors. So, it was a really long, drawn-out meet,“ said Ms. Rubenstein, head coach of varsity swim team. “They both have larger teams than we do, who have swimmers that train year-round, not just season swimmers.”
RHS had a far more successful meet the following Monday, with girls taking second-place in the district, and the boys taking first.
“Well, we went into it knowing that we’d lose…They (Academy and Jesuit) are bred to be good competitors,” said William Tate (’25), one of the leading captains for the boys’ team. “But we did quite surprising for ourselves this meet…We did end up winning districts, so up next, regionals.”
Battling to one-up the two other teams, their past scores and even the weather, the varsity swim team still managed to give their all during the entirety of the meet.
