The delicious chocolate pie and the bitter cappuccino. At least the cappuccino looks cute in the photo!

For those of you with a sweet tooth and a knack for trying new things, Chocolate Pi just might be the place for you. From cakes, cupcakes, and macaroons to ice cream floats and homemade soda; they have plenty to satisfy any dessert cravings.

Chocolate Pi is a small, old-fashioned bakery and dessert shop located in the Epicurean hotel on South Howard.  Its vintage decor and upscale feel makes it quite unique from any other bakery I’ve been to.

As a first timer, I didn’t exactly know what to get so I just ended up choosing their Chocolate Marshmallow Pi, which included dark chocolate ganache creme, toasted meringue and chocolate chips —and let me tell you, it was delicious. I’ve never had chocolate pie so I was pretty surprised on how much I liked it. The flavors balanced each other out making it not too chocolatey, but rather giving it just the right amount of sweetness.

With the pie, I ordered a small cappuccino—and I hated it. It was so bitter and not at all what I was expecting. But then again, I’ve never had one so it most likely was my fault for not knowing how to order it. Thinking back now and looking through their online menu, it was my fault, for I didn’t know that it came with 6 ounces of double expresso! And though it was too bitter for my tastes, it still looked cute in the picture, which was part of the reason why I ordered it.

Despite that mishap, it was a delightful experience and I really hope to visit again. The second time around I hope to know exactly what and how to order. I will definitely be ordering the same Pi again.
