They don’t make them like this anymore.

Editor’s note: the “Retro Review” stories are reviews of works that came out before the year 2000.

All I have to say is that “Gilmore Girls” is probably one of the best shows I have ever watched.

This show is set in a small, fictional town in Connecticut called Stars Hallow and filmed from 2000-2007. The classic 2000s fits are worn all throughout the show which I love! The low-rise jeans, the interestingly designed shirts and the converse are all just perfect.

The show revolves around a mother, Lorelai Gilmore, who had her daughter, also name Lorelai Gilmore (nicknamed Rory), at age 17. Lorelai moved away from her wealthy and privileged family after she had Rory. They moved to Stars Hallow where they built a life and made great relationships with everyone in town. The show begins around the time Rory is 16 and gets the opportunity to go to a high-end private school, but needs help paying for it. Lorelai, being a manager of a small inn located in Stars Hallow, ask her parents for help as her last resort.

Lorelai’s relationship with her mother, Emily Gilmore, is the complete opposite of her relationship with Rory. Lorelai and Rory’s bond with each other is unbreakable. While they do have their ups and downs throughout the show, they always seem to rekindle and grow stronger. On the other hand, Lorelai has a strained relationship with her mother. They almost never see eye to eye and are constantly bickering at each other.

The different connections Lorelai has with her daughter and her mother are extremely relatable. I watched this show with my mom and I can very well see me and my mom doing everything that happens in the show. The situations they get their selves into keep you invested. There have been multiple times where I have felt the exact feelings and been in the exact situation they are in.

I was trying to think of my favorite part of the show and I can’t think of any specific part. That is how good it is. The whole show is so entertaining that I don’t have one part that I can point out to say I like that the most.

“Gilmore Girls” are a classic 2000s film. I have only re-watched it about three times, going on four, but in my greatest opinion, I will recommend this show to everyone. In my first attempt to watch “Gilmore Girls”, I didn’t like it. I couldn’t get through the first episode. The videography was not good and to be honest, the acting wasn’t that great either. I actually told my mom, “Let’s find a different show to watch.”

We searched for other things but couldn’t really find anything and my friend told me to try it again. So I did and we got through the first episode again and then I was like let’s try the second. The second was a lot better so we went onto the third and it had a whole glow up. It was like it went through a whole transformation. And from then on, the show just keeps getting better and better.

As I re-watch the beginning of season one, I can see big differences between some of the places and even people. Although this show might not be for everyone, I will always tell people to watch the first three episodes and then decide if they want to continue or stop.
