The newly released Danish thriller “Loving Adults” has taken spot five in the top 10 charts on Netflix. Directed by Barbara Topsøe-Rothenberg and stars Dar Salim, Sonja Richter and Sus Wilkins, “Loving Adults” raises the question, what would you do if you found out your partner cheated on you?

In the movie, Leonora (Sonja Richter) and Christian (Dar Salim) are a long-time married couple with an 18-year-old son who is slowly recovering from a severe illness. Their relationship clearly has been dead for some time, but there’s more going on than meets the eye. At first, it seems like a typical unfaithful marriage as the husband has secret make-out sessions behind closed doors at the workplace with his newfound love.

In my opinion, the movie really explores a relationship breaking down, just as a couple is gaining freedom from a terrible episode in their life. What should be a time of celebration on several fronts, turns into the destruction of their long-time marriage. I thought it was a well-done, slow-burn thriller movie. The fierce dependence, hatred and mistrust they have for each other is so consuming that they end up committing terrible crimes to compensate for their weaknesses.

As I was watching this movie I realized very early on that this is one twisted film. In most movies, I can see the twist from a mile away and although I was uncovering a lot of the mystery involved in this Danish thriller, some stuff got me. Without any spoilers, the character that most people would hate for his infidelity ended up being the most likable character, as the sympathy, I felt for the wife quickly faded as the movie progressed.

The movie was good entertainment, with lots of themes the audience will identify with proving that this film deserves its rightful place in the top 10 charts. The dark, unexpected things followed by the backstabbing, jealousy and humiliation that Leonora endures certainly leave me feeling for her. Anyone who has an appreciation for watching thrillers, mysteries, or dark suspense stories would enjoy this newly released movie.
