Apple recently had an Apple event on Wednesday, Sep. 7, where three new iPhone models were announced. Along with this, Apple also released the highly anticipated iOS 16 updates. Here are a few highlights of the numerous new features this new update has to offer.

Online, everyone has been talking about Apple’s main change with the update, a customizable lock screen. When setting the lock screen, you can now select the option phone to shuffle photos from your camera roll by how often they check it. They can also now put widgets onto the screen, such as the weather, upcoming calendar events, battery percentage and much more.

In the iMessage app, multiple unique features were added. If you’re second-guessing a message they sent, they now have two minutes to unsend it; if you want to edit it, you now have 15 minutes. Personally, I love this If someone accidentally reads a message, they can now mark it as unread as well. When someone “Tapback” on an SMS message, the recipient’s Android smartphone will now display an appropriate emoji reaction.

Mailing just got more straightforward and easier too. Never disregard an opened email that was neglected to respond to. Choose a day and time for messages to reappear in your inbox. You can now move email messages straight to the top of their inbox allowing them to send a follow-up right away. You can also get alerted if you overlook adding an essential component to the message, such as an attachment or a recipient. Also, the option of scheduling when an email will be sent out.

The maps app now allows one to add several stops along their route when driving. Now available on Macbooks, you can create a route with many stops and your iPhone will be synced with it. Another improvement is the ability to add transport cards to Wallet, view low balances, and top off one’s card without ever leaving Maps. Another benefit is that one may check the transit fares to determine how much their trip will cost.

Apple Pay now also has a brand new feature, “Apple Pay Later”. You can now divide the cost of your Apple Pay Later purchase into four interest-free payments over a six-week period. With a double tap of the power button on the phone, you can select the card of choice and pay with easier using face-id or typing in your password.

In the Health app, you can also now track their medications, log them and set reminders for one to take them. If you have a new prescription, you can now add the medication by using the iPhone camera. If the patterns of your reported menstrual cycles indicate that you have irregular, infrequent, protracted, or persistent spotting, you can get a notification as well.

Apple also announced that the newest iteration of CarPlay integrates all of the screens used by the driver coming in 2023. Deep contact with the vehicle’s systems enables radio and HVAC management as well as driving information on instrument cluster displays. Every vehicle can use this updated version of CarPlay, which supports various screen sizes and configurations. Drivers may now choose their gauge cluster design, including brand-specific options, thanks to new degrees of personalization. When you are worried about gas station assistance, route information, toll support, towing assistance, and other services can now be live in CarPlay.
