Florida state fair 2024

Florida state fair is fun for all ages

The skyride at the Fair.

The Annual Florida State Fair was just in town this last week. I had recently gone with a few of my friends, and we had a great time. There were numerous activities for us teenagers to indulge in that were surprisingly very fun.

When you first walk into the fair, you are accompanied by a large indoor flee market with all sorts of different knickknacks and appliances you can buy. This was the first thing we took a look at when we got there. We then decided to go take a look at the animals petting zoo, which was what we were most excited for. The Zoo included bunny’s, cows, goats, donkeys, pigs, and to our surprise, a baby kangaroo and a llama. I feel like this is an attraction that all ages could enjoy. Many adults think that the state fair is just a children’s carnival, but there are actually many things that adults can enjoy on top of all the rides.

There are so many different attractions you could possibly do at the state fair from rides to games, but I have to say my number one reason for going to the fair every year is the food. At the fair I feel like it is possible for them to deep almost anything. My top tier food item would definitely have to be the deep-fried Oreos so if you haven’t tried them, you absolutely should. I didn’t go on many rides because I was so full of all of the delicious food we ate, but there are about a hundred different rides you could choose from.

There are rides for little kids as well as for teenagers and adults which are very fun from my past experiences of going on them, which is why I think the Florida State Fair is the perfect outing to go on for all ages whether it be a family or friends’ trip.

Sofia Scott, Staff Writer
Sofia Scott is a junior at Robinson and a staff writer. This is her first year on the staff. For most of high school, Scott has wanted to join the Robinson newspaper staff. Now that she has the chance, she's excited to jumpstart her journalism career for the Knight Writers. "I've been wanting to take journalism for so long, but I always had a bunch of classes that I needed to take so I wasn't getting put into the class, but I finally got it," Scott said. Scott is excited to write stories that express her opinions in newspaper and allow her to interact with people around the school by interviewing people for stories and gaining their input for events. "I prefer to interview just because I actually like interacting with people and I feel like it's a fun way to do journalism. I just like interacting with people and interviewing them and getting their opinion, " Scott said. Outside of newspaper, she participates in numerous school clubs such as Knightmare and Student Government Association (SGA.) She plans to rejoin Knightmare this year and is eager to begin with her first year as an SGA member. As Sofia enters her last years of high school, she plans to attend college or trade school to become an esthetician, keeping in line with her interest in beauty and makeup. "I think I'm going to move towards going into psychology when I major in college, maybe later I go to a trade school or become like an esthetician or something like that because that stuff has always interested me," Scott said.
