The world of Chainsaw Man is officially making its explosive jump to theaters, and fans everywhere are bracing themselves for the chaos. Following the massive success of the anime’s first season, the new movie delivers even more brutality, emotion and unforgettable storytelling centered around Denji, the young protagonist whose life changed when he joined the Public Safety Devil Hunters alongside Makima, Aki Hayakawa and Power.
This film adapts the highly anticipated “Reze Arc,” a storyline that blends romance, betrayal and devastating battles. Reze, a mysterious and charming new character, quickly becomes one of the most important people in Denji’s life. Her presence challenges him emotionally in ways he never expected, making this arc one of the most talked-about parts of the entire manga.
“The movie followed the manga almost perfectly. They even improved certain scenes and added more emotional meaning. When I read the manga, I didn’t realize how important some moments were until I saw the movie,” Skai Kundet (’26) said.
Before moving on, it’s clear from their reaction that the film brought out emotions that manga didn’t fully capture. The added details and animation made certain moments hit harder for viewers who already knew the story
“Reze is the most impactful character because she completely changed Denji’s perspective on women and helped shape who he becomes,” Kundet said.
Watching the movie myself, I felt the intensity the whole way through. The fights were fast and beautifully animated, but what hit me the hardest was Denji’s emotional journey. Deep down, he just wants to be loved and to have someone stay by his side. This movie shows that vulnerability clearly and painfully.
While many fans adore Reze, I personally disagree with the idea that she truly deserved Denji. Her charm and complexity make her interesting, but her actions raise questions about whether her affection was genuine. Overall, the Chainsaw Man movie is a thrilling, emotional experience that fans won’t forget anytime soon.
