After placing first at districts last week, the T.R. Robinson girls cross country team is excited and feeling prepared for regionals on Friday, November 3 at Estero Community Park.

The girls cross country team has high expectations for the their final placement at regionals. They are all hopeful they will place in the top six, so they can advance to States.

Assistant cross country coach Tim Altimari said, “… I think [the girls] are going to have a tough fight at regionals, but I think… they are around 6 or 7, and the top six teams [advance to States].”

Team member Julianna Heath (’19) broke her foot early in the season and has recently returned. Regardless of her setback, Heath is still excited and hopeful for regionals.

“Individually, I’m not sure [about my performance], I’ve only been training for two weeks,” Heath said. “But I had my first race last week and it went pretty well.”

Despite her injuries, Heath plans to run her best race. Additionally, Sophia Crassas (’20) has plans to set a personal record.

“I hope to get in the top fifteen, so I can get into states. I want to break 20 minutes for my time for the 5k,” Crassas said. “I think it’s going to go really well because we worked very hard the whole season.”

Overall, the team members and the coaches seem to be well prepared for and excited about regionals and can’t wait for their Friday fight.
