ISSUE 3: Things to do Over Spring Break

Here’s a list of activities that’ll make your week one to remember

Spring break, a time of sunshine and beaches is right around the corner. As it approaches, everyone is starting to make their plans with their friends and families. Here’s a list of activities to turn a bleak day into an adventure over your break.

1) Clearwater Beach

If you’re looking to have a good time, Clearwater is the place to go. The police presence ensures safety, and people from all around Tampa gather to play games, eat food, tan and swim. It’s a great way to meet new friends and make memories that will last a lifetime. I’d recommend going in the morning before it gets too crowded to find a good spot to settle in, and staying till sunset is always fun.

2) Try new restaurants

You can never go wrong with food. In Tampa, there are always new and innovative places opening around the corner. One of my favorite activities is riding around with a friend and finding the latest restaurants. Some newer ones in the area are The Naked Farmer, Kura Sushi and The Salty Donut.

3) Late night drives

It’s always fun to drive around at night with music blasting just singing at the top of your lungs; it is even more fun to do with friends. This is something every teenager should experience as I believe activities like these capture what it feels like to be young. However, taking caution and wearing a seatbelt is always crucial.

4) Busch Gardens

This is one of the biggest amusement parks in Florida where your day can vary from seeing elephants to riding a 90 mph ride like Cheetah Hunt. Although this costs money, I think every penny is worth it. During spring break, they have their food and wine festival which includes concerts and food and drink tasting on the weekends.

5) Strawberry Festival

If you love strawberries and like festivals, the strawberry festival is the place for you. The live music, games and food guarantee that you’ll have a super fun time. If you’re a dessert lover, I’d recommend building your own strawberry shortcake or even their funnel cakes. I’ve gone in the previous years and it is always a fun time.

Trying new activities is what makes your spring break memorable. Take advantage of your time off and have fun.

About the Contributors
Jennie Gutman
Jennie Gutman, Staff Writer
Jennie Gutman is a junior at Robinson and a staff writer for Knight Writers. This is her first year on staff. The main reason why Gutman decided to be part of the staff is to become an advanced writer, allowing her to excel in her classes. As a basketball player, Gutman has a deep passion for sports writing and looks forward to covering all the RHS sports. A baller at heart, Gutman aspires to pursue her passion for basketball after high school. "My main goal in basketball is to get into D1, and if not D1 then I would try to get into D2 and then play overseas," Gutman said as she's currently trying to score 1,000 points and was titled the MVP 2 times at Robinson. Other than Basketball, Gutman finds joy in shopping, hanging out with friends, and most importantly, she focuses on exercising at least once per day to try and improve her game. With a wide-open future, Gutman hopes to either help people as a Physical Therapist or pursue her interest in stocks by becoming a Businesswoman. "In the near future, I just want to help people as much as I can," Gutman said. (Profile by Brianna Yasis)
Yesenia Rosario
Yesenia Rosario, News & Features Editor
Yesenia Rosario is a junior at Robinson and the News & Features Editor of  Knight Writers. This is her second year on staff and her first year as an editor.  Rosario has a deep fondness for the community that journalism has built for her, leading her to return to the staff for a second year.  "What brings me back is the community and the work, it’s very great. It’s very easy but fun at the same time," Rosario said.  Although busy with her academics, Rosario manages to find time for hobbies; she especially enjoys baking and being with friends. Rosario also appreciates a wide variety of media, particularly the essence of Jordan Peele's movies. Currently, “Coraline” is ranked as one of her favorite movies due to its more dark and irreverent tone.  “It's not that I don't lean over any other genres of movies, it's just that I think that thrillers and creepy movies have you on the edge of your seat more, they could be more interesting," Rosario said. "More can be done with a lesser timeframe, rather than like two-hour movies, and though they're good, they're pretty lengthy, so I think that horror and thriller movies have so much content in a short amount of time." Being a movie and music enthusiast, her favorite section to write is A&E. She often finds herself gravitating towards sections that allow her to editorialize.  “I prefer writing album reviews over any other, because it's something I enjoy writing about and giving my opinion on and it gives me a reason to listen to music for fun, rather than having to write lengthy feature stories or any informative story that aren't as fun to write," Rosario said.  Rosario hopes that her love for writing will continue to play a role in her future, even after high school. “One of the reasons I like journalism is that you’re able to choose and write about what you’d like and I think that’s pretty cool," Rosario said.  Profile by (Jordan De La Cruz)
