Windows Upgrade

All 700 computers in Robinson High School will be shifted from running Windows XP to Windows 7 over the course of the next couple of months, beginning over winter break. This will be done by Jack Miles, our Instructional Technology Resource. The reason for this shift, according to  Miles, is that the support for Windows XP will end in April, meaning that there will be no more new updates or fixzes for the system.

Students should not save any files to the Desktop or any other folder other than the MyDocuments folder as the computer’s memory will be wiped out and anything not saved in MyDocuments will be lost in the switch.

According to  Miles, the system will not look any different than Windows XP and students and teachers will not additional training on it.
