Just when it seemed like the worst part of the winter was over, Tampa received yet another irregular hit.

This week’s cold front is similar to our recent ones, meaning that it won’t last for long, but it will bring us into the below-freezing 20s. Thursday and Friday have highs in the 50s, but next week we will be back to experiencing some warmer temperatures in the 70s.

Students all over campus were able to wear boots, scarves, and hats that they aren’t able to frequently wear during Florida’s winters. Even though hats are usually banned from being worn on school grounds, administrators allow them to be worn outside only in these cold conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hard Freeze Warning from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday morning.

20 mph winds are expected, and a Lake Wind Advisory has been sent out for the Tampa Bay area.

It is strongly advised to bring pets indoors and to take care of plants that are sensitive to the cold.
