Every year, a group of Robinson students are recognized as National Merit Semifinalists for receiving some of the highest grades in the state on the PSAT/NMSQT.

The National Merit Scholarship program grants scholarships  to select students based on their test scores. First, students take the PSAT during October of their junior year and are then entered into the program for consideration. Their score for the program is determined by “selection index” which is a calculation based on the PSAT section scores. Florida’s cut off selection index this year for semifinalists was 219.

Based on the students selection index, they are then recognized as semifinalists in early September of their senior year. But to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship, a student must be a finalist, which they will be notified of in February. Some of the finalists are then selected to receive the scholarship.

This year, Robinson’s semifinalists were Rohan Nadgir, Charles Hobby, Srikavin Ramkumar, Vasishta Akinapalli, Alex Kirkner, Kayla Huynh and Sierra Shellabarger.
