With the class of 2024’s graduation creeping up in May comes the announcements of the senior class’s Valedictorians and Salutatorians. On Tuesday, Feb. 20, there was a special breakfast to congratulate the top 20 students of this year’s graduating class, 10 being from Robinson IB and 10 being from traditional, while also announcing the Valedictorians and Salutatorians. This breakfast took place inside the new culinary cafe, the Knights Tavern, where students were served eggs, sausages, coffee and juice that was provided by Robinson’s culinary class.

The IB Valedictorian is Vikram Sambasivan, and standing by his side, as IB Salutatorian, is Jazmine Afridi. Being in IB or AP classes are rigorous courses so these are major accomplishments that they have rightfully earned.

“It’s really cool to get this opportunity; this is something I’ve always wanted and it’s nice to see that my hard work had paid off,” said Afridi.

For the traditional class, the Valedictorian is Anthony Zheng and by his side is Salutatorian Dayana Dominguez who have both been in mostly all AP or honors classes during their duration in high school.

“I sacrificed a lot of time doing other things like studying rather than playing video games or socializing I would stay home and study and pay more attention in class,” Zheng said.

These students sacrificed their time contributing it to homework and studying which is not an easy thing, especially on the weekends when most teenagers choose their time to go out and socialize. Becoming top 10 in your class is no easy feat and Logan Sayers highlights that he sacrificed a lot to pursue this achievement.

“My grandpa once told me that you’ll only get out what you put into something, now I’m finally able to see what he means,” he said.

Sofia Scott, Staff Writer
Sofia Scott is a junior at Robinson and a staff writer. This is her first year on the staff. For most of high school, Scott has wanted to join the Robinson newspaper staff. Now that she has the chance, she's excited to jumpstart her journalism career for the Knight Writers. "I've been wanting to take journalism for so long, but I always had a bunch of classes that I needed to take so I wasn't getting put into the class, but I finally got it," Scott said. Scott is excited to write stories that express her opinions in newspaper and allow her to interact with people around the school by interviewing people for stories and gaining their input for events. "I prefer to interview just because I actually like interacting with people and I feel like it's a fun way to do journalism. I just like interacting with people and interviewing them and getting their opinion, " Scott said. Outside of newspaper, she participates in numerous school clubs such as Knightmare and Student Government Association (SGA.) She plans to rejoin Knightmare this year and is eager to begin with her first year as an SGA member. As Sofia enters her last years of high school, she plans to attend college or trade school to become an esthetician, keeping in line with her interest in beauty and makeup. "I think I'm going to move towards going into psychology when I major in college, maybe later I go to a trade school or become like an esthetician or something like that because that stuff has always interested me," Scott said.
