Zodiac Signs Build Better Relationships

With astrology being a popular topic, zodiac signs are a fun and easy way to better understand others as well as yourself.

As someone who grew up being interested in astrology, it’s safe to say that I love the idea of being able to talk about all the twelve different star signs that live in our solar system, that being zodiac signs. With the year coming to an end, I believe zodiac signs should be talked about more because they give people the power to have more creativity to express themselves.

When you first open Tiktok, and scroll for a few minutes you’re most likely going to come across a video that’s split into two parts describing all the zodiac signs as a character, an item, a color, a season and so much more. You might even come across a content creator explaining why they like and/or dislike a certain zodiac sign. Sometimes you might even come across content creators using zodiac signs as skits for entertainment.

During the pandemic in 2020, I couldn’t do much but scroll on social media for hours on end and Facetime my online friends. While I was on Facetime with my friend, a video popped up on my screen, it was a TikTok about “Which Superpower Do You Have, Based Off Your Zodiac Sign?” I told my friend about the video I’d watch and we would spend hours talking about our zodiac signs and how we get along with the other signs.

Personally, I’ve always seen zodiac signs as a way of comfortability. I like the idea of connecting myself with the stars and wanting to learn more about what they mean, as well as trying to understand myself as a human being. Having a sign as someone born at the same time as me just brings me so much joy on a more personal level.

Now of course, I know not everyone is going to have the same beliefs as me and that’s perfectly fine I respect that. Zodiac signs don’t always have to be taken seriously. They’re meant for a sense of entertainment and nothing more. If people want to apply zodiac signs to their daily lives, they’re more than welcome to do so. However, they may or may not find themselves distancing themselves from a lot of great people.

About the Contributor
Mikesha Clarke
Mikesha Clarke, Staff Writer
Mikesha Clarke is a junior at Robinson and a staff writer for the Knight Writers. This is her first year on staff. Clarke prefers writing over photography and has always dreamt of being an author. This has been a dream of hers ever since she can remember as she has felt a connection when writing from an early age. Fictional drama draws her attention the most, with her favorite genre being romance. While Clarke does not play any sports, she stays active by walking to and from school each day. “I live nearby and hate driving, so I like to walk to school,” Clarke said. You can always see Clarke with her earbuds in. Walking also gives Clarke the perfect opportunity to listen to her favorite music, which mostly includes K-Pop and R&B. “My number one favorite artist is Nicki Minaj, of course. I would say my second favorite is BTS. I’ve been a fan of them for a long time, too,” Clarke said. Joining the staff this year, Clarke hopes to gain more experience in different aspects of journalism and getting out of her comfort zone when writing stories. "I hope to write a lot of great stories and improve my skills as a writer," Clarke said. In the future, Clarke hopes to be able to write her own novels, particularly about romance. In hopes to pursue a path that would align with her creative self, she hope to attend Full Sail University in Orlando due to its extensive arts programs. (Profile by Gabi Treviño)
