2025 was a year for fashion. Different styles were coming back from 20-40 years ago, like leopard print, and the y2k style and new trends emerged such as 67 and Italian brainrot. A lot of these trends are worth bringing with us to 2026, but there are also some things that definitely need to go. These are some of the trends worth keeping and some new for the new year:
Baggy Jeans
Baggy jeans are very stylish and can be paired with practically any kind of top – tight-fitted, loose, over-sized, off-the-shoulder – everything. And no matter what color top you wear, at least one of the many shades of denim will match. There has always been some type of jean in style, and baggy jeans haven’t filled their whole purpose yet.
Camo/Animal Print
Camo is the more everyday-denim-duo kind of pattern, versus animal print being more of a special occasion add-on to make an outfit pop more and be less boring. These styles are pretty recent, and I feel they have a place in 2026.
Outfit Sets
I have also seen these pop up in the last month or so. The paired outfits are the cutest in pastel colors; they normally don’t look as well if it’s some kind of pattern. Outfit sets are comfy and perfect for everyday wear. These sets are normally either baby tees with sweat pants or hoodies with sweat pants shorts or sweat pants. This is the perfect style to bring into the new year since it maintains the comfy neutral style brought about in 2025, but with a new twist.
Knee-High Boots
May not be the most common, but they pair very well with dresses and skirts. These boots look the nicest in brown or black and can match with pretty much any color or design. For example, the black boots go very well with a black top and leopard print skirt. These shoes hold lots of potential and so many possibilities that haven’t been experimented with yet.
Most of the 2025 trends were fun and stylish, but there were some that felt like they came to a closing last year. We want these memories to be positive and remembered in good terms, not annoyed by them. These are meant to stay in 2025:
6-7
As fun as it was, the new year seemed to be a nice closer to the 6-7 trend. Since the new year, I haven’t heard the saying nearly as much. A lot of people found it as easy entertainment, while just as many found it annoying after it was over used. Like how the 21 trend came and went, 6-7 might be left to 2025.
Converse
They were great while they lasted, but converse are starting to make their way out as well. They were the everything shoe: with dresses, with jeans, with any kind of shorts or skirt. You can literally wear them with everything, especially with white or black colored shoes, since they’re pretty neutral colors that can match any color combo. But in 2025, we’ve expanded our horizons, adding a wide variety of shoes to our wardrobes. It’s great that we’ve added a wider variety to our latest styles, but it’s still kinda sad to see our favorite high-tops go.
Over-sized T-shirts and athletic shorts
It’s a low-key, everyday, go-to kind of outfit; but this combo isn’t as common anymore. This style has gradually been making its way out. I’ve noticed the latest styles are leaning more towards adding a little more style to clothing with patterns and designs; unlike how it was quite bland, with solely solid color combos and maybe a brand name. It’s still a go to for extra casual days like a school day, but I haven’t seen the combo anywhere else.
Labubu
They might stick around a little while longer, but I don’t see the key chains lasting. These soft rabbit key chains with their creepy grin seem to be funny to many, but creepy-looking to other people. I don’t really like them personally. If I were to get a stuffed animal key chain then it probably would be a Jelly Cat, because they actually look cute.
Opinions vary on these styles and trends, but this is what I’m predicting we’ll see this coming year. There will also be new styles and trends invented this year, along with things that are coming back into style as the year goes on. The beginning of the new year is a perfect time to be out with the old and in with the new. Happy New Year!
