Stunning. Frustrating. Some called it the team’s worst game of the 2014 season. But the past is called the past for a reason.

After falling in four sets to a struggling King team last September, the Lady Knights volleyball team got another crack at them on Tuesday night. This time around, in 2015, Robinson got the win, though they were pushed to their limits in four sets, winning by scores of 25-18, 21-25, 27-25 and 26-24.

For a Robinson team that was seemingly rolling through the first four games of the season, Tuesday night may have been a bit of a surprise.

“Ultimately, as a team, we had an off night and simply struggled to play ‘our game’,” said head coach Christen Garcia. “Luckily, we were still able to walk away with the win. It was a wake up call in the sense that we realize the focus, hard work and discipline that is required to compete at a high level on a consistent basis.”

Rebecca Hill (’16) totaled 32 assists, nine digs, three aces and two blocks while Catia Sleet (’16) collected 22 kills, 10 digs and four aces. Emily Draper (’17) finished with 16 digs and Kristin Werdine (’19) picked up 11 kills.

Despite those numbers, it was a sloppy night for the Lady Knights as they committed 32 hitting errors, a number which Hill called “absolutely unacceptable.”

Errors aside, the Knights remain undefeated in the regular season with their fifth straight win. They host Jefferson (1-4) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in their district opener.
