Before Thursday night’s regular season finale between Robinson (17-6) and Strawberry Crest (10-8), five Lady Knights seniors were honored in the senior night tradition. Following their introductions, Robinson rolled to a 3-0 sweep by scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-15.

“It’s just a special class,” said Lady Knights head coach Christen Garcia. “The impact of their experience this year has been really vital to our success.”

Captain Catia Sleet (’16) finished with 20 kills, with fellow captain Rebecca Hill (’16) totaling 35 assists. Emily Draper (’17) picked up 17 digs and four aces and Kristin Werdine (’19) collected six kills, seven digs and two aces. Elly Frierson (’18) was all over the stat sheet, finishing with four kills, seven digs, three aces and two blocks.

Finishing the regular season at 17-6, Robinson now heads into Saturday’s Dig Pink round-robin tournament to raise money for breast cancer research while honoring those who have fought or are currently fighting the disease.

“It’s something that has kind of grown every single year,” said Garcia. “It shows that we’re bigger than volleyball, that we have an impact on breast cancer research.”

The Lady Knights will host Spoto next Wednesday in the district semifinals, with the winner advancing to Thursday’s district final. Robinson is looking for their fifth straight district title.
