With threats of cancellation due to Hurricane Matthew behind them, Robinson (3-4) battled Alonso (0-7) this Friday, October 7. The Knights were able to shut out the Ravens 30-0.

“They hustled tonight, defense really got around the ball. They were listening to their coaches and executing.” said head coach Shawn Taylor. “It’s a team game, both offense and defense need to do their jobs, and that really came together tonight.”

The game started with a 40-yard run by Anfernee Alston (’17), followed by a field goal for William Roseman (’18). A fumble by Kobe Copple (’19) was recovered by the Ravens, but soon back in the possession of the Knights due to an Alonso fumble. A twenty yard pass to Anthony Krouse Jr. (’17) was followed by a Copple touchdown run early in the second quarter. A run by Alston sparked another touchdown for the Knights to end the half.

An Alonso fumble was recovered by Taquan Mason (’18) and returned for another Knights’ touchdown in the third. In the fourth quarter of the game, Roseman managed to hit on a 20 yard and 35 yard field goal.

On defense, Mason had twelve tackles and a forced fumble returned for a touchdown. Krouse had nine tackles and a sack and Eli Morris (’17) and Brendan Lepage (’18) each had seven tackles. The lock down defense was key to tonight’s success.

“We played well tonight, but we’re still making mistakes we can’t afford to make next week. We’re playing Jesuit, who’s probably number two in the state for 5A.” said Taylor. “We really need to work hard in practice this week to prepare.”

Robinson will take on the Jesuit Tigers next Friday, October 14 in a district match up at Jesuit High School (4701 N Himes Ave, Tampa, FL 33614).
