The Florida Scholastic Press Association (FSPA) annually holds a shop for all seven districts during the fall. Robinson High School falls into the fourth district. On Nov. 4, journalism students went north to the University of South Florida to attend the FSPA Workshop.

Students can take up to three sessions at the workshop, each about an hour long. This year, Robinson’s very own Knight Writers Editor-in-Chief, Juno Le, held a session on sports photography. The workshop aimed to prepare publications for their coverage of the upcoming winter sports season and teach students how to strengthen their photography skills.

In the Fall Digital contests, three students were awarded All-Floridas. Juno Le (’23) & Zoe Thaxton (’23) with a date night feature page, Thaxton with a deadline prose and Cecilia Cheng (’23) with a deadline written review.

At the FSPA District 4 Workshop, there were on-the-spot contests. Students were given prompts the morning of the event and had to complete the prompt before lunch. First place winners were Vikram Sambasivan (’24) for his news piece; Ingalls Witte (’23) for her on-air-reporter; Zoe Thaxton (’23) for her opinion piece;  Jadyn Grayes (’24) for her poetry piece. Students awarded second place included Witte for their poetry piece and Whittaley Bowden (’24) with her spot news photography. Cheng placed third with her opinion piece.
