Homecoming Game Preview

The football team charges out at the Jefferson game
The football team charges out at the Jefferson game

Starting the season off with four losses and only two wins, for the football team, tomorrow night marks one of the most important games of the season in the Homecoming game against King High School. Rather than being discouraged by the losing streak at the beginning of the season, however, the team was only more encouraged.

“We were playing some tough opponents in the beginning,” Coach Shawn Taylor explains, “and it’s only made our team better.”

King currently stands at 4-2 this season and Robinson at 2-4. Despite the early season losing streak, the team is currently on a two game winning streak and hopes to defeat King at tomorrow’s game.

Overall, Robinson has a 19-1 score record with 9 ties against King. The last time our team played them was in 2010, and the team was successful in defeating them. In fact, our team has perpetuated our success against King for six years.

Captain Jordan Guyton (’14) is excited for the game and claims that his enthusiasm is augmented by the fact that it’s his last homecoming game. Guyton holds no predictions for the outcome of the game but asserts that the team will “go out there and give it their all,” and if they did in fact win, it would only make Homecoming dance all the more fun and important.
