After losing two of three games last week, Robinson (6-2) rebounded on Tuesday night with a 4-1 win at Jefferson (3-5), finishing a regular season sweep of the Dragons.

Michael Tini (’16) got the start on the mound for the Knights, picking up his second win of the season. He tossed a complete game, giving up just one unearned run on one hit and three walks while striking out three.

“Michael threw great,” Robinson head coach Kevin McCray said. “He did a great job.”

The Knights took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Kris Terry (’17) scored on an error after leading off with a double. Mathew Chowning (’17) came home on a sacrifice fly by Killian McCray (’17) for the second run.

After taking the lead, mistakes led to the Dragons getting a run back in the home half of the third. The leadoff batter in the third was hit by a pitch and later singled in by Ricardo Sosa (’16). After a walk with two outs to put runners at first and third, Tini got the next batter to get out of the jam.

“He had that one inning, just self-induced errors,” McCray said. “He realized it and you could almost see his demeanor change, like ‘here we go, I’m going to make people beat me.’ That’s what we preach here; if they beat us, they beat us. Just don’t help them.”

Robinson added two runs with two outs in the fourth when Mitchell Tozian (’16) singled in a run and Terry drove him in with his second double of the game.

Tini retired the final seven batters he faced to finish off his second career complete game.

The Knights will hit the road on Thursday to take on Spoto (2-5) at 7 p.m.
