Spring Sports Update: 2/29-3/4

Baseball

The Knights (7-2) picked up a big win on Tuesday, beating Jefferson by a score of 4-1 behind a complete game by Michael Tini (’16). In seven innings, he allowed just one unearned run on one hit and three walks. On Thursday, Robinson beat Spoto in five innings by a score of 11-0. They host Middleton on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Softball

The Lady Knights (6-4) scored six runs in the seventh inning to escape with a 12-7 win at Jefferson on Tuesday. Alexis Smith (’19) finished the night 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs while Cassidy Renninger (’18) went 4-for-5 with two runs scored. Samantha Conlan (’17) and Olivia Longshore (’17) both homered. Robinson picked up another win on Thursday, beating Spoto 18-0. The Lady Knights’ next game is Tuesday at home against Middleton at 7 p.m.

Boys Lacrosse

The Knights picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday, beating Jefferson by a score of 6-2. The win snapped a 10-game losing streak that dated back to the 2015 season. They host Tampa Catholic on Friday at 7 p.m.

Girls Lacrosse

Robinson improved to 5-2 on Tuesday with a 14-0 win over Jefferson. Tampa Catholic comes to Jack Peters Field on Friday for a 5 p.m. matchup with the Lady Knights.

Boys Tennis

Robinson improved to 7-1 this week with a 6-1 win on Tuesday at Middleton and a 4-3 victory on Thursday against Plant City. They head to Newsome on Monday.

Girls Tennis

Robinson is now 8-0 on the season after two 7-0 victories this week. One came on Tuesday against Middleton with the other coming on Thursday at Plant City. The team’s next match is Monday against Newsome.

Boys Track

The boys raced against Steinbrenner and Leto Monday night. Notable finishers include Sean McGlone (’16), who placed first in the pole vault, Keldric Preston (’16), who placed first in the shot put and the discus, and Dannys Marrero (’16), who placed first in the 3200. At press time, complete results for the meet were not available. Select members of the team will head to Leto Saturday for the Nash Higgins Relays.

Girls Track

The girls raced against Steinbrenner and Leto Monday night. Notable finishers include Vivika Sheppard (’17), who placed first in the 800, and Raegan Giberson (’17), who placed first in the 3200. At press time, complete results for the meet were not available. Select members of the team will head to Leto Saturday for the Nash Higgins Relays.
