Comfortably closing out the first two sets, the Knights fought at the end of the final set to extend a slim three-point lead at 20-17.

“The main takeaway was that, no matter who we’re playing on the other side of the court, our energy, our fast pace that we play, needs to be there the whole time” first-year head coach Stephanie Turner said. “We need to focus on our side and play our side no matter what.”

A consistent back row allowed the Knights to keep the Patriots under 20 points throughout the match.

“I think our passing and defense was really strong. I think we’re pretty scrappy,” outside hitter Kristin Werdine (’19) said. “We had a lot of unforced errors, which we’ll work on at practice, but overall a pretty good game. It’ll be a good season.”

Robinson will take its 2-0 record on the road next Monday to face Steinbrenner High School (5575 W Lutz Lake Fern Rd, Lutz, FL 33558). First set will start at 7:30 p.m., following the JV matchup at 6:15.
