Girls Basketball*

After losing to Booker 43-46 in the Regional Quarterfinals last season, the Lady Knights (23-4) claimed redemption, beating the Highlanders 68-51 at Booker High School on Tuesday, Feb. 14 in the Regional Semifinals. But on Friday, in the Regional Finals, the Lady Knights were taken down 50-38 by the Lakewood Spartans to end their season.

Boys Lacrosse

The Knights (1-3) lost to Tampa Prep this Wednesday, Feb. 15, 7-11 and to Sickles 17-6 on Friday, Feb. 17.

“I am really excited for this season, we have been working really hard during the off season for the road ahead,” Drew Verez (’19) said. “We had a rough season last season but with the new line up and fresh players we have loads of potential to be met.”

The Knights next face Alonso on Tuesday, Feb 21, at 5 p.m. at Alonso High School (8302 Montague St, Tampa, FL 33635).

Girls Lacrosse

The Lady Knights (2-2) defeated Wharton 15-9 on Monday, Feb. 13, in their second win of the season and lost Friday, Feb. 17 to Sickles 15-5.

“Our team is really special because a lot of our players are new to the sport,” starting defender Corey Hendricks (’18) said. “We definitely have lots to work on but I think if we put in ore commitment and outside training we could go fairly far.”

The Lady Knights next face Alonso on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Alonso High School (8302 Montague St, Tampa, FL 33635) at 7 p.m.

Softball

The Lady Knights (2-0) defeated Hillsborough 14-o in their first game of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 14, before shutting out Newsome, the 2015 state champions, 2-0 on Thursday, Feb. 16.

“I believe we needed these wins to boost us through the rest of our season. The most important aspect of our team this year is cohesion.” Captain Hayley Mon Goy (’17) said. “The girls work so well together and all have a desire to achieve our ultimate goal: states.”

The Lady Knights face Steinbrenner next Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Robinson High School (6311 S Lois Ave, Tampa, FL 33616).

Boys Tennis

The Knights (2-0) beat Spoto 7-0 on Monday, Feb. 13 in their first match of the season. They then beat Blake by forfeit on Thursday, Feb. 16.

“It feels really good to start off with a win,” Nic Narvades (’19), the team’s number two player, said. “We needed that W to build off of and use it as a sort of step to gain confidence.”

The Knights will next face Tampa Bay Tech on Monday, Feb. 24, at Tampa Bay Tech at 3 p.m.

Girls Tennis

The Lady Knights (2-0) defeated Spoto 7-0 in their first match of the season on Monday, Feb. 13. They beat Blake by forfeit on Thursday, Feb. 16.

“Our team changed a bit from last year but I am fairly sure we can make it to states again,” Cat Liu (’19), the number four player, said. “We lost in the first round of states last year because our number one player got really sick but I think we could make it past that round this year.”

The Lady Knights next face Tampa Bay Tech on Monday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m.

Boys Track

Boys track competed Monday, Feb. 13 against Leto and Alonso at Leto. As of press time, results were not available.
