Knights prepare for a battle against Jefferson

The Knights (2-4) must win their game today against Jefferson to have a chance at advancing to the play-offs.

“Now we have to wait on the point system because we lost a district game last week,” Head Coach Sean Taylor said about their loss against Jesuit. “That district game is now bigger than ever.”

In order to advance, Robinson must finish first or second in their district. While they currently find themselves in 8th place, a win tonight would bring them a valuable five points closer to second place.

“I think we can do it,” sophomore lineman Dean Byrd said. “If we can beat Jefferson and then Bloomingdale, we’ll have a chance.”

While easier said than done, a 4-4 record would be a huge step forward for Robinson’s football program, giving them a chance to advance in a highly competitive district.

The team has no other option but to play their hardest and to hope that things work out in their favor.

The Knights face Jefferson tonight at Robinson High School (6311 S Lois Ave, Tampa, FL 33616).
