With the 2018 Winter Olympics starting last week, there’s still plenty of athletes and events to watch for in the upcoming events.

Here are a few athletes to look out for in PyeongChang this week.

Lindsey Vonn (USA): At age 17, Vonn made her Olympic debut at Salt Lake City in 2002. She won gold and bronze at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 but with all this success, her career has been plagued by injuries.

In the 2006 winter games, she had a violent crash during her second run. She skied through an injury in the 2010 Olympics, and was kept out of the 2014 games with a torn ACL. Vonn, now 33, will be competing in PyeongChang which will likely be her last shot in the Olympics.

Adam Rippon (USA): Rippon is the oldest U.S. figure skater Olympic rookie since 1936, at 28-years old. He is the first openly gay man to skate for the United States in the Winter Olympics. He hopes to be a role model for others younger and older than him and hopes to inspire more than just athletes to embrace who they are with an open mind.

Justine Dufour-Lapointe (CAN): Competing with her older sister Chloe, Justine is the defending Olympic champion in moguls. The sisters were just the third pair of sisters in Olympic history to win gold and silver in the same event. While spirits are high in their attempts to go gold, the sisters will be skiing with a heavy heart as their mother, Johane Dufour-Lapointe, is currently battling cancer.

Seun Adigun (NGR): As a former sprinter at the University of Houston, Adigun ran for Nigeria in the 2010 London Olympics. Her story started as a GoFundMe page in 2016 to finance the Nigeria bobsled team. In December, she earned her masters degree in Health Sciences and her doctorate in Chiropractic. At age 31, she will drive the bobsled for Nigeria and steer the hopes of Africa.
