With a statewide stay-at-home order in Florida, schools all over have switched to online learning. But spring sports for these schools do not have the luxury of switching to electronics. Therefore, the calendar for these teams has been altered.

The sports that are being affected by this pandemic include: lacrosse, baseball, softball, wrestling, track and field and flag football. These sports had already started their seasons, but had to stop all activities due to the current COVID-19 situation.

The current ruling by the FHSAA is that spring sports have been postponed through May 3. This is in conjunction with the fact that all schools are closed until the same date.

On March 18, the FHSAA announced that players would not be awarded another year of eligibility for spring sports. This came a day after Governor Ron DeSantis announced that parents would be able to hold their children back a year due to the pandemic. But the FHSAA is now working on a plan to give players another chance at eligibility if the season does not come back.

With the situation surrounding COVID-19 changing on a day-to-day basis, these dates are subject to change if the national circumstances do not allow for schools to reopen on May 3.
