Spirits were high when the Knights varsity wrestling team went up against Alonso High School in the Robinson Gym on Jan. 24. The dual proved to be a walk in the park for RHS resulting in them winning nearly all of their matches for the night. While most of the varsity wrestlers consisted of upperclassmen, a few underclassmen had a chance to show off. Quenten Eriksen (’25) began his match on a not-so-great start but came out on top in an exciting turn resulting in the first pin of his wrestling career.

“It felt super validating to pin a guy who’s been wrestling a lot longer than me. I felt that my hard work was paying off and that I was progressing up in my weight class. It also felt nice to have the whole gym cheer for the pin,” Eriksen said.

Robinson’s next wrestling match will be away on Feb. 8 against Plant High School.
