On Oct. 10th, Robinson High School went to King High School in an attempt to get their first win this year. Little did they know that this would be the best game of the season to date. Not only did they win, but they blew King out of the water, 42-14. Between offense, defense and special teams, they were blocking almost every play King made against us.
The offense came out strong early, with quarterback Marino Cozzens (’27) connecting on multiple touchdown passes and the running game finding plenty of gaps to run the ball. The defense held tight all night, forcing turnovers and limiting King’s big plays. Cozzens was on point with his kicking, making every extra point attempt we had. The highlight of the night came in the closing minutes when we had a pick-6, which helped the Knights seal the victory against King. As a group, the knights dominated the field with 6 touchdowns starting in the 2nd quarter.
“One memory I won’t forget from this year is when we beat King,” outside linebacker Tiberius Reuss (’26) said. “And that bus ride back home it was a very fun ride”
Quarterback Marino Cozzens (’27) and running back Omar Anchico III (’27) were an unstoppable duo all night, connecting on almost every play made by the team, for a combined 321 yards. King stood no chance against the dynamic duo. All around, the team played fantastically, putting up their best performance for the parents and students who traveled out to see the win. The coaching staff also has a big influence on the players as they direct the team in the right direction, even when the games get difficult.
“Coach usually says stuff like ‘we’re still in it’, ‘lock in’ and ‘wake up’,” wide receiver Isaiah Alvelo (’28) said. “Which is a big confidence boost for the team.”
This was also a district game, making the win even more special as the team now ranked #2 in our district, right behind Jefferson High School. With 1 game left in the season, the win brought back our team spirit. During every play, the players jumped around in excitement and screamed whenever a good play was made.
“That game brought the chemistry up a lot, because we got a win,” Anchico III (’27) said, “That brotherhood connected us with each other.”
The entire team believes this win is something they and everyone else will never forget, marking it as one of the most memorable moments for the Knights in the 2025 season. For the team, this win was a huge confidence booster as now they will not end the season winless. It also gave them the confidence to keep pushing until the end of the season.
