If there’s one word to describe this issue, it’s growth. As you read through these pages, we hope you notice it, in our visuals, our design and our storytelling. Since our last publication, our staff has continued to evolve, challenge ourselves and take creative risks that reflect just how far we’ve come.
Just a few weeks ago, our editor-in-chief team and A&E editor traveled to Nashville for the National Scholastic Press Association convention. We attended workshops, connected with other student journalists and even brought home a few awards. But more importantly, we returned with invaluable insight on how to make our print and online publications stronger. Many of the design elements and writing techniques featured in this issue are inspired by what we learned from other outstanding student journalists and industry professionals, fueling our shared goal of reaching All-Florida status in journalism.
We owe our deepest thanks to our advisor for continually motivating us to grow, and to our staff for once again exceeding our expectations with creativity, teamwork and dedication.
This issue carries a festive, holiday spirit: a celebration of both the season and the progress we’ve made as a publication. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed creating it. On behalf of the Knight Writers, we wish you a warm, restful holiday season.
