ISSUE 1: Robinson’s Guide to Fall Fashion

What should we be wearing this season?

Fall is the season for fashion; as the weather cools down, we’re able to express ourselves by layering our favorite pieces. Take a look at the best pieces for fall with this fashion lookbook.

Pendant Choker

A customizable pendant on any ribbon, the small touch that goes with any outfit. You can turn any pin into a pendant with a colorful piece of string.

“Pendants are a perfect staple for my outfit especially when I need to spice up an outfit for photos,” Juliet Kleineshay (’25) stated.

Corduroy

Whether it’s a jacket or pants, any color corduroy is the fall essential that everyone needs. Not only are they comfortable, but also versatile in an array of weather conditions.

Oversized Jean Jackets

Although we’re in Florida, layering pieces will top off any outfit during autumn. Lightweight pieces under an oversized jacket can easily pair with every look.

Gingham and Plaid

Looking like a scarecrow or cowboy/girl is THE fall look, especially for pumpkin patches, hay-riding and haunted houses.

Loafers, Cowboy Boots and Mary Janes

Your new everyday shoes to dress up any outfit. Cowboy boots are essential with any denim. Loafers are exquisite with any skirt whether it’s a mini or maxi. And finally, mary janes go perfectly with maxi dresses and corduroy pants.

Maxi Skirts

Maxi skirts are a universal piece that can be styled in various ways. They go perfect with chunky sweaters, baby doll tops and even tank tops!

Watches

It’s about time to purchase a watch, the stylish choice for this autumn. A watch is the perfect middle ground of telling the time and looking put together.

Bows

It’s a Sofia Coppola-inspired season and we’re adding bows to everything. Whether it’s your hair, boots, skirt, pants, shirt or neck, bows are the superb dainty touch.

“I love adding bows to anything. They can come in so many colors that are perfect to add to simplistic outfits,” Nevada Steele (’24) said.

Cabled sweaters

Our inspiration this season is Gilmore Girls, any chunky sweater over a pair of flared jeans is the effortless fall fit. They’re easy to come by and affordable at any thrift store.

Color palate: burgundy, navy blue, cream, greens, purple and brown.

Many of these pieces are easy to come by. Some of my favorite spots include Wendy’s Closet, Sunshine Thrift Store, Goodwill and antique stores around the Tampa Bay area for jewelry. Being fashionable does not necessarily have to be expensive.

Briana Garcia, Senior Staff Writer
Briana Garcia is a junior at Robinson and a Senior Staff Writer of Knight Writers. This is her second year on staff. Garcia was brought to Journalism by a lack of interest in any other elective the school offered. However, she found an open and creative environment when she came into the newsroom. "I thought there were terrible options, but I feel like there are a good group of people in journalism, like to be in this class you have to have some kind of initiative, some character," Garcia said. During her time on staff, Garcia has been able to pursue her interest in photography. While she enjoys a more artistic approach to photography, she has found an appreciation for sports multimedia. "More specifically sports, I love taking photos and doing photo galleries of games," Garcia said Her passion for photography expands past her schoolwork, as she spends time documenting her own world through the art form. Garcia expresses her creativity most often through fashion. She finds her favorite unique pieces when thrifting, a craft that she has mastered. She also loves to express herself in more permanent ways. Garcia has several patchwork-style tattoos representing her music taste and personal style even further than just her clothes. "I bought my friend a tattoo gun for her birthday, she just gives me any tattoos I want. Most of my tattoos are band or music artist related, I'm really into music and I like to express that," Garcia said. Garcia dreams of going to fashion school to express her full potential in the industry. "My dream school is Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York; I want to go into fashion business or fashion design. I don't know how to draw, but I am really good at sewing and all the business aspects of it," Garcia said. (Profile by Ashlyn Miller)
